cinco de bow wow!

Looking forward to partying at the Wrightwood Tap this Saturday with other pups and people to support my heroes at Wright-Way Rescue! I’ll tell you right now, I’m not planning to join in the karaoke. But then again, who plans on karaoke? One too many “treats” and before you know it, you’re hitting the stage singing “Margaritaville” or getting your Madonna on. Join us! Here are the details below…or hit the link above to Wright-Way…

dog day afternoon

I was wishing all day that my friends Juicy and Max would come out and play. I sat perched in my mom’s office window watching for them across the way. Next thing I know, there they are! We ran down the stairs and out the door as fast as we could. It was so fun playing with them. I used to think Juicy was the love of my life, but I guess it was just puppy love. I think she’s back with Chip, her on-again/off-again sometime live-in dachshund beau. (He ran up and bit me the first time we met.) All is fair in love and war I guess. Fortunately, Juicy and I have remained friends. And don’t tell Chip, but I gave her a big kiss today!

reflections

I learned two things today:

That dog I hear barking back at me whenever I bark in the backyard…it’s me!

And that face that scares me when I peer into puddles…yep, that’s me too.

Who knew? Just an echo and my reflection. Good to know.

my mullet

Not sure if I like my new haircut. Are mullets back in style? I have a doggie mullet…business in the front, party in the back end. Maybe they decided my poodle half is my back half and gave me some poof.  Mom and dad think I look cute, but then they’d say that no matter what!

won’t you be my neighbor?

I have a new friend! I don’t actually know if my friend is a boy or a girl, so I guess it’s more of an acquaintance. I think it’s a schnauzer. It’s funny how dogs look like their owners; they always  look a little crabby so I never say hi. But I really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Or a dog by its owner. Good to know you, neighbor!

MY American Idol

I am amazed by all of the talented dogs and cats out there, like this poodle singing and playing piano. I haven’t found my hidden talents yet. But I am mastering the basics (potty training, high-fives, sitting, coming when called… if there is a treat involved). And I’ve been using my toys to squeak out a song since I saw beat boxing on TV. Gotta work with what you’ve got!

the hangover

Partied hard last night with my cousins Joseph and Luke. And I’m definitely feeling it today. Those boys know how to have a good time and boy do they have a lot of tasty toys. (just kidding. it was only one tiny game piece.) Better sign off now. I can’t keep my eyes open any longer.

Puppy love: a few of my favorite things

I love snow!

As we’re getting to know each other, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things –

  1. TREATS! TREATS! TREATS! Need I say more? Okay, a few more things…
  2. long walks, fast runs, car rides and kicking a soccer ball around
  3. “Juicy”, the cute white toy poodle down the street who may be the love of my life
  4. being potty trained. i’m proud to say i’ve only had a handful of accidents in my entire life, and those were #1
  5. meeting new people and licking them
  6. goose poop. i’m not proud of this, but you might as well know I see it, I eat it
  7. being a spokespup for Kits Sports Center. It’s fun being a celeb without all the pup-a-razi
  8. paper. napkins, tissue, any textiles, I love to eat it more than food
  9. running circles around the dining room table
  10. stealing socks, shoes, the remote and watching my parents chase me (see #9)
  11. napping next to my mom as she works on the computer and stealing her pens and paper when she leaves her desk
  12. when my parents give me a kiss goodnight and tuck me into my bed; and when I wake up and kiss them good morning
  13. snow. sure it’s cold and wet and deep but I LOVE it
  14. my family, including my sisters who are coming home from college soon!
  15. my extended family including my Uncle Snuffy who taught me how to lift my leg like a big boy

My so-called dog’s life

Featured

it's me Cooper!

Greetings! If you never thought you’d be reading the ramblings of a puppy, well, I never thought I’d be writing them either. First, I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Cooper, a nine pound shih tzu/teacup poodle mix who is making my way in the world, thanks to the fine folks at Wright-Way shelter who rescued me when I was smaller than a Coke can. And to my parents Tony and Linda who have been spoiling me since the day they adopted me – August 26, 2010.

My life is an open book, or blog as the case may be. It’s not easy to express myself (other than barking which gets kinda old). But with my mom’s help, I’ll do my best to share my thoughts and exploits here on a regular basis. I’m hoping that hearing from me will be amusing and even enlightening. Let me know what you think, I appreciate your comments, questions and lots of puppy love.
